Russia to cut number of air regiments, increase number of aircraft at airbases - commander

KRASNODAR. Nov 5 (Interfax-AVN) - Russia does not plan to reduce the size of its Air Force next year, Air Force Commander Alexander Zelin told journalists in Krasnodar.

"We are not going to reduce the size and quality of our Air Force. We are simply reducing the number of air regiments, but at the same time we plan to increase the number of aircraft to be deployed at airbases," Zelin said.

This process "will take into account the state's resources and the condition of the aircraft to be taken off combat duty," he said.

"This is objective reality," he added.
