KALININGRAD. Nov 25 (Interfax-AVN) - Russia may send the state-of-the- art guard-ship Yaroslav Mudry, to Somali coast. Its construction will be finished in spring 2009, the PSZ Yantar dockyard said on Monday.
Currently the guard-ship Yaroslav Mudry is undergoing mooring tests, and the Baltic Fleet will receive the ship next spring, Baltic Fleet Commander Vice-Admiral Viktor Mardusin told Indian Deputy Chief of Naval Staff Raman Prem Suthan.
"It cannot be ruled out that Yaroslav Mudry will be sent to the Gulf of Aden for a patrolling mission," Mardusin said.
This issue was discussed because Yaroslav Mudry is similar to the Russian Navy Neustrashimy warship which is currently fighting piracy off the African coast, the dockyard said.
