MOSCOW. Dec 8 (Interfax-AVN) - A fiber optic communications system is being set up for Russia's Space Forces, the head of the Space Forces' communications service said.
"Before the end of 2010, we plan to finish the construction of fiber optic communications lines in the interests of some of the Space Forces facilities in the Moscow zone," a Space Forces press release quoted Col. Sergei Kolesnik as saying at a meeting of senior officers in his service.
Kolesnik said the 2008 section of a phased program to fit the Space Forces' primary communications network with digital telecommunications equipment would be implemented fully.
