MOSCOW. Dec 8 (Interfax-AVN) - The Russian Defense Ministry has refuted reports that Russian warships and combat helicopters intruded the Georgian territory near the village of Ganmukhuri on Sunday.
"No Russian ship entered the Georgian territorial waters today. Reports that Russian combat helicopters violated the country's airspace near the village of Ganmukhuri have nothing to do with the reality as well," Russian Defense Ministry spokesman Col. Alexander Drobyshevsky told Interfax-AVN.
Earlier, Georgia's Rustavi-2 TV company reported, citing eyewitnesses, that a Russian warship remained off the Georgian coast, three miles from Ganmukhuri, which borders on Abkhazia, for three hours. Meanwhile, two Russian combat helicopters were flying over a Georgian police checkpoint near the village.
