MOSCOW. Dec 10 (Interfax-AVN) - Russia is ready for cooperation with the new U.S. administration in all areas, but such efforts should meet the countries' mutual interests, Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov told a briefing at the Association of European Businesses in Moscow on Wednesday.
"U.S. President-Elect Barack Obama speaks about the need to cooperate with Russia to neutralize global threats and names international terrorism as one of the most dangerous threats. He also speaks about problems related to the proliferation of weapons of mass destruction and mentions a large number of other avenues for cooperation," Lavrov said.
"We are ready for close, equal and mutually beneficial work in all these areas, as well as in any other issue where our interests will coincide, where a truly level playing field and mutual respect will be ensured, and where our mutual interests will be promoted and taken into consideration," he said.
