MOSCOW. Jan 30 (Interfax-AVN) - Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Grigory Karasin and U.S. Ambassador to Russia John Beyrle have discussed the situation in the Caucasus and preparations for the next round of Geneva consultations.
"The meeting addressed the situation in the South Caucasus, primarily the practical aspects of international work on new mandates for the UN and OSCE missions and preparations for the next round of Geneva discussions intended to ensure durable security in South Ossetia and Abkhazia, which is scheduled for February," the Russian Foreign Ministry said in a press release on Friday.
Karasin and Beyrle also exchanged views on their countries' relations with Ukraine and states in Central Asia, the ministry said.
