MOSCOW. Feb 11 (Interfax-AVN) - Missile complexes on duty in the Russian Strategic Rocket Forces (RVSN) are capable to "hitting facilities on enemy territory within just a few minutes," RVSN Commander Col. Gen. Nikolai Solovtsov said.
"Today RVSN are the permanent readiness troops that are continuously on duty and are ready to fulfill tasks in line with orders of the Russian president, who is Russian commander-in-chief. Over 6,000 people are on combat duty every day ready for immediate combat and no less that 96% of launchers can be ready within a few minutes - the highest readiness level among other elements of RVSN," Solovtsov said in an interview published by the Krasnaya Zvezda newspaper on Wednesday.
"Around two thirds are nuclear warheads, which can in just a few minutes hit facilities on the enemy's territory, are centered in RVSN. As to the total combat force, RVSN exceeds any other type or branch of the Russian Armed Forces," the general said.
