Ukraine, NATO to update special partnership charter

KYIV. Feb 16 (Interfax-AVN) - Ukraine and NATO plan to update the special partnership charter signed in 1997.

NATO experts visited Ukraine last week to discuss practical aspects of Ukraine's annual national program of preparations for the accession to the Alliance, Ukrainian Foreign Ministry press secretary Vasyl Kyrylych told a Monday press briefing.

In the opinion of the sides, the annual program should fully meet the Membership Action Plan by its form and content, he noted.

"They also discussed an update of the Ukraine-NATO special partnership charter signed in 1997," Kyrylych said. He noted that the charter would be supplemented with the Bucharest summit's decision on the Ukrainian eventual entry into the Alliance.
