MOSCOW. Feb 16 (Interfax-AVN) - Russian and Bolivian law enforcement agencies will carry out joint operations to combat drug trafficking under an agreement signed in Moscow, between the Federal Drug Control Service and the Bolivian Vice Ministry for Social Defense and Controlled Substances on Monday.
The agreement was signed during Bolivian President Evo Morales's visit to Russia, the Drug Control Service informed Interfax.
"It envisions joint operations and prevention measures, efforts to broaden professional contacts and the training and advanced training of personnel," the Drug Control Service said in a statement.
"Cooperation between the Russian drug control service and Bolivian law enforcement services is important because the flow of cocaine from Latin America to Russia has been steadily increasing. Latin American drug cartels see Russia, Ukraine and Poland not only as a drug market, but also as transshipping points for delivering drugs to Western Europe," the statement says.
