MOSCOW. March 3 (Interfax-AVN) - The Treaty on Conventional Armed Forces in Europe (CFE) is unlikely to remain in its previous format even if Russian relations with the West improve, Director of the Stockholm International Peace Research Institute (SIPRI) Bates Gill said.
"I doubt that the treaty will survive in its previous form, but I hope that amendments which would at least partially replace CFE provisions will appear," Gill said presenting the SIPRI 2007 yearbook in Moscow on Tuesday.
In any case a comprise on this issue should be found, the SIPRI director said.
