Russia, U.S. can find common language on strategic offensive arms, missile defense - Lavrov

GENEAV. March 10 (Interfax-AVN) - The U.S. and Russia can find a common language on strategic offensive weapons and missile defense, said Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov.

"I am convinced that we are able to find a common denominator and even derive some benefits for our strategic relations on both strategic offensive weapons and missile defense. I have noticed our U.S. partners' preparedness for dialogue," Lavrov said at a press conference summing up outcomes of his talks with U.S. Secretary of State Hillary Clinton in Geneva on Friday.

The U.S. should respect Russia's interests in pursuing such issues, he said.

The U.S. earlier suggested that it could revise its approaches toward the deployment of missile defense facilities in Europe, and Clinton said before the meeting with Lavrov that the U.S. was interested in cooperating on missile defense with Russia.
