Russian ministry confirms death of two Russians in Uganda plane crash

MOSCOW. March 10 (Interfax-AVN) - The Russian Foreign Ministry has confirmed that two Russian citizens have been killed in the recent plane crash in Uganda.

"According to information possessed by the Russian embassy in Campal, the plane was carrying two Russian citizens (first and second pilots) and two Ukrainian crewmembers, six passengers, and cargo for the African Union Mission in Somalia. No survivors have been found," the Russian Foreign Ministry said in a release issued in Tuesday.

According to earlier reports, an Il-76 transport plane owned by Aerolift crashed in Uganda on Monday.

"A commission has been created by the Uganda Transport Ministry to probe the crash. The causes of the crash are being determined. The Russian Foreign Ministry extends its condolences to the victims' relatives," says the Russian Foreign Ministry's release.
