MOSCOW. March 23 (Interfax-AVN) - The Reshetnev Information Satellite Systems has started up a modern testing facility, says a company report received by Interfax-AVN on Monday.
The facility was launched "because of the enlarged production and the output of innovative satellites Glonass-K, Geo-IK-2, Luch-5A, Luch-5B and Amos-5," the report runs.
"New satellites have broader functions. Therefore, they must be tested with modern and more sophisticated gadgets," the company said.
The new facility employs four people, who are testing particular segments of satellite control units and overall controls.
"Work is being done in record speed," the company said.
"According to the preliminary plans, the production of satellite components will amount to over 200% this year. Control units of Geo-IK-2, Glonass-K, Luch-5 and Amos-5 will be tested, so the testing facility will soon employ a fifth person," the company said.
