MOSCOW. March 24 (Interfax-AVN) - Russia's security strategy until 2020 envisions the development of equitable relations with all partners in the world arena, said Security Council Secretary Nikolai Patrushev.
"Strategically, we will be trying to develop international relations on the basis of the principles of equality and mutually advantageous cooperation, international law, and reliable and equitable security," Patrushev told the Security Council, as he was presenting the basic provisions of the Strategy to the Security Council members and President Dmitry Medvedev on Tuesday.
However, "Russia will pursue a rational and pragmatic foreign policy in order to defend its national interests," Patrushev said.
Russia "intends to exclude loss-making confrontation and a new arms race," he also said.
Generally, the Strategy details the goals and the basic aspects and tasks of developing the system of the country's national security," Patrushev said.
"The document has a practical content, is compact and has no foreign phraseology," he said.
