Russian pilots fly over 15 tonnes of cargo to Russian polar base

MOSCOW. March 24 (Interfax-AVN) - An Ilyushin Il-76 military transport airdropped over 15 tonnes of cargo to the Borneo drifting station on Tuesday.

"Aviation, diesel fuel and other equipment was delivered to an ice floe in the northern latitudes," aide to the Russian Air Force commander Col. Lieu. Vladimir Drik told Interfax-AVN.

Each April the Borneo drifting station, which monitors climate change, approaches within 100 kilometers of the North Pole.
