MOSCOW. April 9 (Interfax-AVN) - Deputies representing Chechnya in the Russian State Duma are protesting the statements made by the Dubai police on the involvement of Russian parliamentarian Adam Delimkhanov in the killing of Sulim Yamadayev.
"It is regrettable that a country that is considered to occupy an important place in the Arab world and whose people are sincerely respected and liked by the people of Chechnya has found itself involved in a dirty smear campaign against State Duma deputy Adam Delimkhanov by an irresponsible police official," the Chechen parliamentarians said in their statement obtained by Interfax on Thursday.
The statement has been signed by parliamentarians Magomed Bakhayev, Akhmar Zavgayev, and Said Yakhikhanov,
The parliamentarians believe the smear campaign against Delimkhanov is aimed at "destabilizing the socio-political situation in the republic and in the Northern Caucasus in general."
