Russian prosecutors ask for Glukhov's extradition from Georgia

MOSCOW. April 28 (Interfax-AVN) - The Russian Prosecutor General's Office has sent a request to Georgia for the extradition of Russian Army Junior Sergeant Alexander Glukhov, charged with deserting his military base in South Ossetia.

"According to the information available to us, Glukhov is in Georgia. The Russian Prosecutor General's Office has therefore sent its request to the Georgian Justice Ministry's Prosecutor General's Office for his extradition for the purpose of subsequent criminal prosecution," spokeswoman for the Prosecutor General's Office Marina Gridneva told Interfax on Tuesday.

Military investigators from the Russian Prosecutor's Office Investigative Committee are examining the criminal case against Glukhov who was charged with desertion, she said.
