Afghanistan to receive 7,000 tonnes of flour in humanitarian aid from Russia - Sechin

MOSCOW. May 14 (Interfax-AVN) - Russia is planning to supply 7,000 tonnes of flour in humanitarian aid to Afghanistan in May, Russian Deputy Prime Minister Igor Sechin said at a Russian-Afghan forum in Moscow on Thursday.

The Russian Emergency Ministry is organizing these efforts as part of the United Nations world program, he said.

Russia supplied 18,000 tonnes of flour to Afghanistan earlier as part of the humanitarian project, he said.

Currently, "trade between our country is represented by a small figure," Sechin said. "The number of current joint projects can be counted on the fingers of one hand," he said.

The two countries must optimize the regulatory base to step up their cooperation, the deputy prime minister added.
