MiG repairs 16 fighters for Bulgaria

MOSCOW. May 26 (Interfax-AVN) - Russian aircraft corporation MiG said on Monday that it had fulfilled a contract with Bulgaria by repairing 16 MiG-29 fighters for the country, meeting the contractual deadline.

The subject was raised at a meeting in Bulgaria on Sunday between MiG General Director Mikhail Pogosyan and Bulgarian Prime Minister Sergei Stanishev, the corporation said.

Stanishev said the fighters could remain in service until 2030 as the repairs had extended their service life to 4,000 flight hours.

The contract was signed in April 2006.
