Estonian armed forces commander and Russia’s critic buys Russian shares

TALLINN. June 26 (Interfax-AVN) - Estonian armed forces Commander Lt. Gen. Ants Laaneots has made an investment in the Swedbank Russian investment bank.

Laaneots bought over 60,000 shares in a fund, which spends the shareholders' resources on buying stakes in Russian companies, according to a declaration of economic interests, published on Thursday. The shares were worth 40,000 krooni (15.6 EEK/1EUR).

Laaneots has invested in Russian shares, even though he is a critic of Estonia's eastern neighbor. He has described Russia as the main threat to Estonia's security on many occasions.
