MINSK. June 30 (Interfax-AVN) - Belarus and the United States share interests in the sphere of global security, Belarusian President Alexander Lukashenko said at a meeting with a U.S. Congressional delegation in Minsk on Tuesday.
"Belarus is a responsible partner of the United States in the fight against international crime, drug trafficking, human trafficking and cyber crime," Lukashenko said.
"Our country is a responsible member of the international community that fully shares the principles of the international anti-terrorist coalition," he said.
"We are ready to cooperate more widely with the United States in export control and resistance to terrorism," he said.
"One should recognize the enormous contribution that independent Belarus has made to strengthening the regimen of nonproliferation of weapons of mass destruction by renouncing the serious nuclear potential it had," Lukashenko said.
"By the way, very many [interested parties] closely follow the attitude of the current nuclear states to Belarus and the implementation of the security guarantees given to it by the United States, Russia and other powers," he said.
