New military doctrine to take in aspects of national security strategy - Patrushev

KOMSOMOLSK-ON-AMUR. July 2 (Interfax-AVN) - Russia's new military doctrine will be adopted before the end of 2009, said Russian Security Council Secretary Nikolai Patrushev.

"We plan to adopt the military doctrine this year. There is no approved military doctrine thus far, but there is a draft, and it's important for us to gather various opinions on what should be taken into account, in what quality and in what quantity, so this could be reflected afterwards," Patrushev told journalists in Komsomolsk-on-Amur, Khabarovsk territory.

While in Komsomolsk-on-Amur Patrushev visited the Gagarin aircraft construction corporation (KNAAPO).

On Friday, July 3, Patrushev will chair a Security Council meeting to be attended by a presidential envoy, regional officials of the Far East Federal District and heads of law enforcement services. The discussion will center on national security guarantees for eastern Russia.

The agenda also includes issues of economic security, the fight against drug addiction and the work to draft a new military doctrine.
