MOSCOW. July 6 (Interfax) - The Moscow city military prosecutor's office initiated 18 criminal cases against Moscow garrison officers in the first half of this year, city military prosecutor Viktor Ivanov told Interfax.
"More than 250 violations of law were exposed in Moscow garrison inspections in January-June 2009. Over 120 officers faced administrative and financial charges, and 18 criminal cases were opened," he said.
In all, the Moscow city military prosecutor's office permitted the compensation of over 45 million rubles in damage.
"The level of corruption is very high in the construction of housing for Moscow garrison officers," Ivanov said.
