Russia, U.S. agree to consider offensive, defensive arms in totality - Medvedev

MOSCOW. July 6 (Interfax-AVN) - Russia and the United States have agreed to consider their offensive and defensive arsenals in their totality, Russian President Dmitry Medvedev said at a news conference after talks with U.S. President Barack Obama on Monday.

"We also agreed that the offensive and defensive means both countries have must be considered in their totality," Medvedev said.

The Russian president described the adoption of a Russian-U.S. statement on missile defense as an important result. "This is an important result of the work done. Even being aware that we still have differences on a number of positions, we have managed to forge a joint document, which was adopted by way of approval," he said.
