MOSCOW. July 10 (Interfax-AVN) - The body of a police officer with gunshot wounds has been found on the outskirts of Shali, in Russia's North Caucasus republic of Chechnya, a source in the law enforcement services told Interfax on Friday.
The attackers also stole the policeman's officially issued Makarov pistol and 16 bullets.
Russian Interior Ministry officers found two 5.45-millimeter cartridges at the scene. An investigation is underway.
In a separate development, as yet unidentified gunmen attacked a car belonging to senior Karabulak police officer Israpil Ozdoyev in the Pliyevo neighborhood of Nazran, the capital of Ingushetia. Ozdoyev was killed in the incident. The attackers managed to escape.
As yet unidentified attackers fired automatic weapons and grenade launchers on two houses owned by police officers in Ingushetia's Karabulak, a source in local law enforcement services told Interfax on Friday.
No one was killed or wounded in the incident. Both houses were slightly damaged.
The chief criminologist of Ingushetia's Interior Ministry, Magomed Gadaborshev, has died in Nazran's republican hospital from wounds sustained in a shooting attack a few days ago.
"Gadaborshev was wounded when shots were fired at him in downtown Nazran on July 7. He was taken to the republican clinical hospital. Doctors did everything in their power [to save his life]. But he died from his wounds on Friday without regaining consciousness," a hospital spokesman told Interfax on Friday.
Gadaborshev's car was attacked by as yet unidentified gunmen outside a store in Nazran on July 7. The man sustained wounds and was hospitalized.
Gadaborshev worked as director of the Ingush Interior Ministry's forensic center.
