TBILISI. July 13 (Interfax) - The Turkish Marine Forces' ship TCSG-123 and the U.S. ship DDG-55 are to arrive at the port of Batumi in Georgia on July 14.
The ships' crewmembers will be greeted by Georgian Border Police chief Zaza Gogava, Coast Guard Department director Besik Shengelia and the mayor of Batumi, a Georgian Border Police spokesman told Interfax on Thursday.
The Turkish ship will relocate to Poti on July 15.
The main goal of the ships' visit is to share experience of sea border protection, as well as measures to plan and conduct joint sea maneuvers. Various sports and cultural events are expected to take place during their visit.
Exercises involving Georgian and Turkish Coast Guard motorboats are to be held on July 16. They will focus on simulated search and rescue operations and tactical maneuvers.
The Turkish ship will leave for its base on July 17.
Joint maneuvers involving the U.S. ship and vessels belonging to the Georgian Coast Guard Department are expected to take place in Batumi and Poti on July 16-18. They will include simulated operations to put out an imaginary fire aboard a vessel and to keep the affected vessel afloat.
The U.S. ship will leave Georgia on July 19.
