ASTANA. July 13 (Interfax-AVN) - A Russian military base in Kyrgyzstan is a question of bilateral relations, Kazakh Foreign Ministry spokesman Yerzhan Ashikbayev told a Monday press briefing in Astana.
"The opening of a Russian military base in Kyrgyzstan is strictly a question of bilateral relations," he said in answer to the question about Kazakhstan's attitude to the possible opening of the base.
"If it had been a multilateral question, Kazakhstan would have been informed and taken part in the process. This time, it is the question of the bilateral agenda," he said.
Kazakhstan "will certainly welcome any measures assisting regional stability and security," Ashikbayev said.
