MOSCOW. July 31 (Interfax-AVN) - Mikhail Pogosyan, general director of the holding comprising the companies Sukhoi and MIG, says he is unable to say when the merger of the two aircraft building corporations will be completed.
"I cannot name a specific date when this process will be completed. But it is important that this process has started," Pogosyan told Vesti 24 television.
The purpose of the United Aircraft Building Corporation (UAC) is to create a single military aviation structure on the basis of the holding comprising Sukhoi and MIG, said Pogosyan.
Pogosyan said that, because MIG has some problems relating to its financial situation and the execution of earlier signed contracts, a decision was made to make him general director of both companies to "make inclusion in UAC as smooth as possible to unify the approaches to the creation of promising aircraft productions in the future, to unite the efforts of Sukhoi and MIG."
