Russia, Nigeria agree to cooperate in space exploration

MOSCOW. Aug 19 (Interfax-AVN) - Head of the Russian Federal Space Agency (Roscosmos) Anatoly Perminov met with the general director of Nigeria's national space research and development agency on the sidelines of the MAKS 2009 air show in Zhukovsky outside Moscow on Wednesday.

"The meeting addressed the main areas in which bilateral cooperation should be advanced. They include space technologies and the practical use of space exploration results, including Earth remote sensing, satellite communications and fundamental space exploration efforts," Roscosmos said on its website.

Russia and Nigeria will continue consultations on these issues during a Nigerian delegation's visit to enterprises and organizations of the Russian space and rocket industry, Roscosmos said.

The meeting during the MAKS 2009 exhibition came as a follow-up to Perminov's talks during his visit to Nigeria in June.
