Russian Air Force to have about 100 modernized MiG-31 interceptors

ZHUKOVSKY, Moscow region. Aug 20 (Interfax-AVN) - The Russian Air Force is modernizing Mikoyan MiG-31 heavy interceptor aircraft, Air Force Commander Col. Gen. Alexander Zelin said on Thursday.

"That is a very good aircraft. We are modernizing it with new avionics and radar systems," he said.

The Air Force will have nine squads of twelve modernized MiG-31BM, Zelin said.
