Blast in Chechen Shali region kills four policemen, two passers-by

MOSCOW/ROSTOV-ON-DON. Aug 25 (Interfax-AVN) - The blast in the Shali region of Chechnya, which was carried out by a suicide bomber, has killed four policemen and two passers-by and wounded one policeman, the headquarters of the Combined Group of Troops in the Northern Caucasus told Interfax.

The suicide bomber approached the police UAZ vehicle in the village of Mesker-Yurt at 11:00 a.m. Moscow time and activated an improvised explosive device.

A group of investigators and the head of the Interior Ministry's criminal police for Chechnya have left for the accident scene. The suicide bomber is currently being identified.
