Nearly all Islamic countries support Russia in fight against terrorism – Medvedev

SOCHI. Aug 28 (Interfax-AVN) - Almost all Islamic countries are supporting Russia's efforts in fighting against terrorism, said Russian President Dmitry Medvedev.

"The North Caucasus Muslims' Coordination Center has been actively developing our country's relations with the Islamic world recently," Medvedev said at a meeting which discussed the support of the Islamic religions organizations in North Caucasus.

"This is good, and by the way, I felt this during my trips to the states, where Islam is the main religion, and while talking to the leaders of those states," he said.

"The federal and regional authorities have approved contacts with the Saudi Arabia regarding the Hajj, as well as educational projects with Libya, Syria, Egypt, which certainly facilitate the mutual understanding and cooperation between our nations and countries," Medvedev said.

"The leaders of our republics and the spiritual leaders of the Muslim community have achieved the main thing here by winning the support of almost all Islamic states for our firm and uncompromising struggle against terrorism. This is what I have been told at my meetings with the leaders of the Islamic states," Medvedev said.
