Makarov Pacific Naval Institute admits its first female cadets

MOSCOW. Aug 31 (Interfax-AVN) - The Makarov Pacific Naval Institute has admitted its first female cadets, a source at the Pacific Fleet press office told Interfax-AVN on Monday.

"We have our first female cadets this year. We have long been preparing to accommodate and train them. The female applicants, who took exams and psychological tests, were accommodated at a separate dormitory," Institute head Capt. 1st Class Igor Leukhin said.

"Eighteen young, energetic and strong-minded girls are the jewels of the Institute. These are our first female cadets. They had the initial training together with men in August," he said.
