TBILISI. Sept 22 (Interfax-AVN) - Georgian President Mikheil Saakashvili will meet with NATO Secretary General Andres Fogh Rasmussen in New York on Tuesday to discuss bilateral cooperation and the prospect of Georgia becoming a member of NATO, the Georgian Foreign Ministry told Interfax.
Saakashvili's visit to the United States, where he will address the 64th session of the UN General Assembly, was preceded by talks conducted in Washington by Georgian Deputy Prime Minister Giorgy Baramidze, who said a concrete timeframe for Georgia's accession to NATO must be defined now.
Georgia will be prepared to join NATO in two-three years, he said.
