CHISINAU. Oct 8 (Interfax-AVN) - Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov on Thursday expressed confidence that a planned meeting on Friday between the presidents of Russia, Azerbaijan and Armenia would bring about progress toward the settlement of the Azeri-Armenian conflict over Azerbaijan's disputed enclave of Nagorno-Karabakh.
"Previous meetings between the Russian president and his counterparts in Baku and Yerevan have produced some results, if not very significant, and have always contributed to progress. I'm sure this will happen this time round as well," Lavrov told reporters in the Moldovan capital, Chisinau, where the three leaders will meet.
Lavrov confirmed that the meeting would be held on the fringes of a planned summit in Chisinau on Friday of the Commonwealth of Independent States, and that the Azeri and Armenian presidents were due to hold a bilateral meeting in Chisinau on Thursday.
