BAKU. Oct 12 (Interfax-AVN) - Azerbaijan is among the prime candidates to join NATO and may become a member of the alliance, NATO Special Representative for the South Caucasus Robert Simmons said.
Being one of the principal candidates for membership, Azerbaijan is developing broad cooperation with the alliance, and it will be continued, Simmons said on the Azeri TV channel ANS.
Simmons praised the level of relations between Baku and Brussels, noting, in particular, that the two parties are continuing cooperation within the Partnership for Peace program.
