SEVERODVINSK. Oct 16 (Interfax-AVN) - Another Indian diesel-electric submarine will be upgraded at the Zvyozdochka repair shipyard in Severodvinsk.
"A contract for the modernization of the Sindurakshak submarine (Project 877EKM) is expected to be signed in spring 2010," deputy general director of the military-technical cooperation company, told Interfax.
The submarine is expected to arrive in Severodvinsk in June 2010, he said.
Zvyozdochka had earlier upgraded five submarines. The fifth - the Sindukirti - is undergoing modernization in Vishkapatnam, India.
Under a contact between the state arms trader Rosoboronexport and the Indian Navy, the weaponry installed on four submarines of Project 877EKM, with Club-S missile systems, will be upgraded in September. Zvyozdochka will be in charge of the work to rearm the Indian submarines.
