Sanctions against Iran unlikely in near future - Prikhodko

MOSCOW. Oct 28 (Interfax-AVN) - The possibility of imposing sanctions against Iran in the near future in unlikely, but the Russian president's formula related to this problem remains in force, Russian presidential aide Sergei Prikhodko told journalists on Wednesday.

"The introduction of sanctions against Iran is unlikely in the near future," Prikhodko said.

Asked about Russia's possible role in such sanctions, the Kremlin official said that he "can only repeat what the president of Russia once said: "As for various kinds of sanctions, sanctions seldom lead to the required result, but the use of sanctions is unavoidable in certain cases."

"This formula is still valid," he said.
