MOSCOW. Nov 12 (Interfax-AVN) - Vnesheconombank (VEB), the Russian Technologies (Rostekhnologii) corporation and nanotechnology corporation (Rusnano) may be converted into stock companies as early as next year, presidential aide Arkady Dvorkovich told journalists on Thursday.
As for nuclear corporation Rosatom and the Deposit Insurance Agency, "there is no such urgency here," Dvorkovich said.
There are different types of state corporations, in particular, those created to solve problems with clear time limits, for example, Olimpstroi and the Housing and Utilities Sector Reform Foundation, Dvorkovich told a briefing following the presidential address to the Federal Assembly.
"They should probably be liquidated when their powers expire. The president said so in his address," Dvorkovich said.
"As for the other corporations, the approach to them will be a differentiated one. I think, the most probable candidates for conversion to stock companies are VEB and Rostekhnologii. It may happen as early as next year," Dvorkovich said.
Asked about the fate of Rusnano, Dvorkovich said the company will likely be converted to a stock company next year.
Dvorkovich said some of the assets of these state corporations "may be sold to private investors" in the future.
"I think this concerns the Rostekhnologii assets above all," he said.
The original plan was to bundle assets together, make them appeal to investors and create companies that could become privately owned.
"This process needs to speed up now. As for those enterprises that work on defense orders, the law does not state that these necessarily have to be state-owned," Dvorkovich said.
But where nuclear materials and other such technologies are concerned, "these enterprises will definitely have to remain state-owned for a long-time to come," he said.
Their privatization is not an issue today, he said.
"As for Rosatom and the Deposit Insurance Agency, here there is no such urgency. I think it will not affect them in the short term because of the nature of their activities, which involves the exercise of public powers," he said.
