Two explosive devices planted at train crash scene - Yakunin

BOLOGOYE. Nov 30 (Interfax-AVN) - Two explosive devices had been planted at the railways in the Bologoye area, one of which caused the crash of the Nevsky Express train.

"We can now confirm that two explosive devices went off. Luckily, neither people, nor the infrastructure were damaged by the second one," Russian Railways chief Vladimir Yakunin said in an interview with the Vesti-24 television channel on Saturday evening.

The second explosive device partly went off at around 2:00 p.m. near the second route, close to the supporting pole, he said. "As a result, investigators carried out another set of measures which lasted until 6 p.m. According to a decision made jointly with Alexander Bastrykin [head of the Russian Prosecutor's Office Investigative Committee], we could not do any repairs prior to that period of time," Yakunin said.
