MOSCOW. Jan 27 (Interfax) - Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov plans to travel to London on Wednesday to attend a high-level international meeting on Yemen, as well as to hold a series of bilateral meetings, including with his counterparts from Kazakhstan and Yemen.
On January 28, London is expected to host a high-level international conference on Afghanistan, which will be attended by UN Secretary General Ban Ki-moon, Afghan President Hamid Karzai and UK Prime Minister Gordon Brown.
Invitations to the Afghanistan conference have been forwarded to foreign ministers from member-countries of the International Security Assistance Force, Afghanistan's neighbors, the region's key states, as well as representatives of international organizations working on the Afghan issue.
Lavrov will head the Russian delegation to the event.
The Russian Foreign Ministry said in early January that any attempts to interfere in Yemen's internal affairs were unacceptable.
The ministry also reaffirmed Russia's "resolute" support for the Yemeni government's efforts aimed at countering extremism, improving the domestic socioeconomic environment and maintaining effective control over the whole of the country's territory.
