MOSCOW. Jan 28 (Interfax-AVN) - Rosoboronexport increased its weapons sales by 10% in 2009 compared to 2008 figures, Rosoboronexport General Director Anatoly Isaikin said.
In 2009, Rosoboronexport sold $7.4 billion worth of weapons, which is 10% more than the year before, Isaikin told reporters.
Aviation equipment accounts for most of Russia's military exports, Isaikin said. Planes and helicopters accounted for some 50% of Russia's weapons sales in 2009.
In 2009, Ground Force weapons reached 19% of Russia's exports, air defense systems reached 13.3%, and naval equipment reached 13.4%, he said.
India remains Russia's main partner in the sphere of military- technical cooperation, he said.
"India is our traditional partners and ally," Isaikin said, adding that he hopes that India's percentage in military-technical cooperation will remain high in the near future.
Among other states to which Russia supplies weapons, Isaikin named Algeria, China, and Malaysia.
"In the past few years, these countries were joined by Venezuela and Syria," he said.
In 2009, Russia supplied $8.35 billion worth of weapons to its foreign partners. A total of $6.72 billion of those weapons were supplied to partners of Rosoboronexport.
