MOSCOW. Feb 5 (Interfax-AVN) - Up to 130 aircraft of the Russian Air Force may fly above Moscow's Red Square in the parade of May 9, 2010, Russian Defense Ministry spokesman Col. Alexei Kuznetsov told Interfax-AVN.
"The number may be smaller in case of bad weather," he said.
Strategic bombers, assault jets, fighter jets, cargo planes and assault and cargo helicopters will take part in the parade, Kuznetsov said.
"We will focus on the flight security," he noted.
Meanwhile, an aviation industry source told Interfax-AVN that WW2 planes would not participate in the event.
"Old war planes will not participate in the Moscow parade, mostly for security reasons. In contrast to modern aircraft, [WW2] planes do not have duplicating systems, and any failure may cause a serious accident," he said.
