MOSCOW. Feb 15 (Interfax) - Tehran has no plan to recognize the independence of Abkhazia or South Ossetia, said Iran's Ambassador to Russia Seyyed Mahmoud-Reza Sajjadi.
"Recognition of such entities is not part of the basic policy being pursued by the Republic of Iran," he said on Ekho Moskvy radio on Monday.
"We think this would provoke other wars and more bloodshed," the diplomat said. However, he did say that Iran was prepared to help restore and develop Abkhazia and South Ossetia.
