ELEKTROSTAL, Moscow region. Feb 18 (Interfax-AVN) - The modernization of the S-400 surface-to-air (SAM) missile defense system will continue, Lt. Gen. Vadim Volkovitsky, chief of the Air Force General Staff, told journalists on Wednesday.
"The S-400 is still at a child's age. It needs to mature and grow up," Volkovitsky said.
Almaz-Antey is already implementing some of its research developments in this system, which suggests that no country has this system of such capabilities and prospects, he said.
"Developers keep coming up with new goals and ideas, and this process cannot be stopped, because progress in both offensive and defensive systems is continual, forcing S-400 developers to constantly address new problems as they arise," Almaz-Antey General Designer Vladimir Kasparyants said.
