Russian helicopter market discussed at U.S. exhibition

HOUSTON. Feb 24 (Interfax-AVN) - The present-day condition and prospects of the Russian helicopter market were discussed at a conference organized by Russia's Helicopter Industry Association on the sidelines of the Heli-Expo 2010 exhibition in Houston on Tuesday.

"Today, Russian helicopter makers are integrated into the Russian Helicopters Holding, which allows us to conduct systematic work in this high-technology sector," Andrei Reus, general director of the Oboronprom United Industrial Corporation, said at the event.

"Russia has been offering its foreign partners competitive products, the output of which grows every year," Reus said.

The event also included a presentation of Russia's Kamov Ka-32 and Mil Mi-171 helicopters.

Head of the Russian Helicopters Holding's marketing department Mikhail Dubrovin told the participants in the conference about the range of helicopters Russia offers on the U.S. market.

Kamov firm general designer Sergei Mikheyev and Mil helicopter plant representative Vadim Mikheyev, for their part, explained the unprecedented characteristics of the Ka-32 and Mi-171 helicopters.

Russia's Helicopter Industry Association CEO Mikhail Kazachkov, who also participated in the conference, presented the results of the organization's research into the current condition and prospects of Russia's civilian helicopter fleet.

The Russian Utair airline's general director in the United States Mamed Kasumov told the participants in the event about the company's prospects on the U.S. market.
