Moscow favors closer coordination of anti-terrorism fight with Lebanon

MOSCOW. Feb 25 (Interfax) - Russia thinks it is necessary to resume negotiations between all partakers in the Middle East peace process, Russian President Dmitry Medvedev said after Kremlin negotiations with Lebanese President Michel Suleiman.

"It is necessary to resume and to continue negotiations between Israel, Palestinians and other participants in the Middle East peace process on the basis of international agreements, UN Security Council resolutions, the Madrid Principles and the Arab Peace Initiative approved at the Beirut summit of the League of Arab States in 2002," he said.

That will enable the start of a comprehensive, just and lasting settlement in the Middle East and eventually lead to the creation of an independent and viable Palestinian state, peace and security of all regional countries, Medvedev said.

He noted that he had agreed "on closer coordination in the suppression of international terrorism" with the Lebanese leader.
