Romania wants to buy uranium for its NPPs – President Basescu

ASTANA. March 3 (Interfax) - Romania wishes to buy uranium fuel for its nuclear power plants from Kazakhstan, said Romanian President Traian Basescu.

"Romania is willing to use Kazakhstan's energy resources, particularly uranium for its nuclear power plants. Romania may also become a good partner in developing Kazakhstan's industry in various fields, particularly in manufacturing oil equipment to develop oil and gas fields," Basescu said at a joint press conference with Kazakh President Nursultan Nazarbayev following talks in Astana on Tuesday.

Romania is "greatly interested in developing bilateral relations with Kazakhstan," Basescu said. "Kazakhstan is Romania's main commercial partner in Central Asia," he said.
