MOSCOW. March 3 (Interfax) - Ukrainian Foreign Minister Petro Poroshenko is confident that President Viktor Yanukovych's visit to Russia, planned for March 5, will positively affect Russian-Ukrainian relations.
"We have already started developing not bad relations with Russia - perhaps the best ever. We are seeing steps ahead in all areas of our cooperation. We expect optimistic results from President Yanukovych's visit to Moscow," Poroshenko said in an interview published in the Wednesday issue of Izvestia.
Commenting on Yanukovych's visit to Brussels, Poroshenko said, "Europe has given us a number of tasks that we have to accomplish."
For the first time in the history of relations between Brussels and Kyiv, the EU has clearly state the prospect of visa-free travel, a free trade area, and macroeconomic assistance, he said.
