Medvedev, Ban hope for quick signing of new arms reduction treaty

MOSCOW. March 18 (Interfax) - Russian President Dmitry Medvedev and UN Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon hope signing of a new strategic arms reduction treaty will come as soon as possible.

Ban welcomed the leading role of Russia and the United States in freeing the world from nuclear weapons and said the UN was eagerly waiting for the soonest signing of a new strategic arms reduction treaty.

"I hope so," Medvedev replied.
